i heart fridays. these days, it’s not because i get 2 days off of work, it’s because i know scot will be home with us for 2 whole days and i love it. we have a pretty busy and interesting weekend this week. tomorrow is a pretty special day for us. yeah, it’s valentines day and all that jazz (any excuse to get all romantical is fine by me), but it also marks one year since we found out we were pregnant! it’s so hard to beleive that a year has passed and as i type this, our sweet little babe is asleep in her crib for a nap and over 3 months old. i will never forget last v.d. (i call it that cause it’s funny. admit it, you laughed). the night before, Scot had convinced me to buy a test. i remember getting up that morning and taking the test, setting it on the bathroom counter and returning to the bedroom, only to see Scot wide awake and sitting on the corner of the bed. we waited the 3 mintues and went into the bathroom together. i saw one line from across the bathroom, but he saw the 2 immediately. man, that day was so exciting. i had to go to work (if you consider looking at baby bedding, names, clothing and accesories all day via the internet, working) and all day i was just in awe of what was happening. my adorable husband had written me a song for v.d. and that morning after we took the test, he added a verse about the baby. i cried like a pregnant chick while he played me that song on his guitar. i remember that day so vividly, that it only reminds me how fast time goes, and soon it will be october 31st and time will just keep going and going…
so the H-monster will be having her weekly sleepover with GG tomorrow night. then sunday i have to drop Scot off for a 2 night medical study that he is doing. i’m gonna meet up with my Emily so we can plan her baby shower. i am so excited! baby B will be here SO soon and i can’t wait. we will squish our little girls together and force them to be bff’s.
Harper rolled over 2 times yesterday! so far, she can only roll over from her tummy to her back, but she is trying real hard to do the back to tummy. if she only knew what the outcome was (tummy time), i’m sure she’d stop trying so hard. she pretty much thinks tummy time is the dumbest thing ever and lets us know exactly what she thinks of it. for your viewing pleasure today, a photo of Harper in a new outfit Scot picked out for her (we just need a mini cell phone and keys so she has something to put in her pockets) and her playing with her first drum set, courtesy of Uncle David.

Harper got her first pair of checkered vans. they look so ridiculously cute. please see evidence ——————->
this week has been bananas. it snowed again ( i got a little angry, thank goodness it didn’t stick around), which messed up a job that Scot is doing, so we were lucky enough to have him at home for 2 days. we got a ton of things done and even got to go visit with Bobbi, Kristin and the boys yesterday.
Harper is on her playmat right now talking to herself. her favorite new thing is her own voice, and making it do funny things. i just watch her and crack up. between the spitty raspberries and the fake coughing (seriously), i’m laughing most of the day. the absolute best is coming into the room and getting in her line of vision – huge smile and the highest pitch squeal. melts the heart, really.
if I could get paid for losing my hair, I could consider myself employed at this point. i knew it was bound to happen (your normal hairloss slows during pregnancy and resumes with a vengeance after you give birth), but this is rediculous. it’s everywhere. i can’t even be mad about the pug and frenchie hair because i think i may have surpassed it with my own. gross. it can stop any day now, i’d rather not end up resembling crazy Britney anytime soon.
in true morrison style, we forgot to get a valentines reservation so it looks like the mr. will be cooking me dinner this Saturday. in our 4 valentines days together, we’ve never once made the reservation in time. we might learn someday, but probably not.
in holy-cow-i’m-getting-old news, my 10 year reunion is this october. i’m actually really looking forward to it. our generation has the luxury of facebook so that there really isn’t any suprises when we all get there. we all pretty much know what the others are up to and hopefully we can spend the time having fun instead of bragging about what it is we’ve been doing (i have a lot to brag about
).

for new mamas and mamas to be…a list of lifesavers.
sleep sheep : thanks to my sister in law, we have this little guy who helps Harper fall asleep. it’s got 4 settings of soothing sounds (the whale one is a little weird, but i digress). Harpers favorite is the babbling brook. you turn it on and it goes for 40 minutes. cute and functional. love.
mylicon : we don’t use this much anymore, but since Harper had to start formula, this really helped with the tummy discomfort. it’s expensive, but everyone should have some on hand. it’s safe enough to use at every feeding, and even for brand new little nuggets.
dr. browns bottles : these are great. when we were still trying to get Harper to breast feed, we bought some other bottles that looked and acted more like a bewbie. unfortunately, they gave her so much air, she was fussy all the time. the second i switched back to these, she did amazing. they are a PAIN to clean (each bottle has 5 parts), but totally worth it to have a bubble-free babe.
moby wrap : words will never describe my love for these. i am a full on supporter of baby wearing and nothing lets your baby be closer to you than this. i love that you can use it up to 35 pounds and wear it in tons of different ways as your little one grows. i also love that Scot wears it. my only complaint with them is that if you want to wear it somewhere, like the store, you pretty much have to put it on before you leave the house since it’s like 20 feet long (not easy to manuver in a Target parking lot). but to me – totally worth the extra effort. note: people FREAK when they see you wearing your baby in one of these. prepare for lots of questions and oohing and ahing.
baby legs! : amazing. not only do they resemble the kickbutt leg warmers of my dancing youth, but they make diaper changes a breeze at home. just a onesie and a pair of these and the kiddo is warm, adorable and i don’t have to snap and unsnap a wiggly baby into jammies or try and get her flailing legs into pants. i want some in every pattern.
what to expect the first year : just like it’s predecessor was my pregnancy bible, this book is so great for the new mom. it goes month by month of baby’s first year of life and answers all the questions we have as unexperienced parents. i plan on buying ‘what to expect – the toddler years’ and ‘what to expect the bitchy, hormone-ridden teenage years’ (oh what? that last one doesn’t exist, but hopefully it will by the time we get there).
