zoo!

the other day, we went to the point defiance zoo & aquarium. i freaking love this zoo. i could go weekly and be happy. since my family from california were in town, we headed there – sammy hadn’t been since we were both really little and my aunt sherry had never been. it was also Harper’s very first trip to the zoo!leetle lemur

they have a great kids section with all kinds of fun stuff, plus a meerkat and ringtailed lemur exibit. the meerkats were SO cute. just digging and rolling around in the sun. we also saw elephants, monkeys, walruses, seals, muscox, owls, penguins, puffins, seahorses, otters and polar bears, oh my! while sammy and i were petting starfish, Harper completely peed through her diaper and i came out my mom changing a naked kiddo on a table in the aquarium. Harper has been changed in some pretty rad places…d

since her oufit was wet and i didn’t bring extra clothes, someone got a souvenir tee with beluga whales on it (sneaky girl, already knows how to get new clothes). she spent the rest of the day in her beluga tee and a dipe, happy as a clam.

the zoo had an awesome exibit going called “Budgie Buddies”. basically an aviary full of birdies and you can buy a stick with seeds on it so they will hopefully land on it and you can hold them. the birds were so pretty, vibrant shades of lime greens, yellows and turquoises. some looked like they had clouds on them. it took a while, but we finally got a couple. Harper wanted to touch them SO bad.budgie

it was an awesome day. i could post about 45,098 more pictures, but i’ll spare you all. it was fun – minus the raging sunburn i got. have no idea why i didn’t slather myself in sunscreen when i did the kid, but whatever. i am sporting some hotpink skin and hope it calms down soon. we finished the day with caprese salads, flatbread pizzas and bellinis at fondi in the harbor. awesome day all around.

katie's baby shower!

alrighty, one post at a time. saturday was my cousin Katie’s shower. my auntie and cousin Sammy did an amazing job of planning, decorating, cooking and cake making by Sammy:jungle cake

yeah – she MADE that. so freaking cute. it was way too much fun seeing my cous and her adorable belly, plus being at a shower for a boy was awesome! i had such a good time shopping for boy stuff (so did Harper – she got Cole a “wee block”…which is precisely what it does), and all the cute boy things at the shower made me really hope our next is a little dude (in the far future, so calm down). we had yummy mexican fare, cute goodie bags and of course the delicious and awe-inspiring cake. Harper was pretty fussy all day since she isn’t used to being around that many people and her stranger/loud noise anxiety is in full effect these days. we decorated bibs for Cole (even Harper put a nice blue mark on one for him. 3 cousins

i am beyond excited for Katie and Kevin to meet their little guy (and way stoked to meet him myself!). they are going to be AWESOME parents and i’m excited that Harper and Cole will be so close in age. i always looked up to Katie growing up and wanted to be just like her. now our kids are going to be able to grow up and play together like we did (although i hope their fashion decisions will be a little smarter than their moms). so exciting!katie and cake

that day was also Scot’s birthday. he had to work all day so when we returned from the shower, we met up with a bunch of friends at our usual hangout. goodtimes were had by all, especially the birthday boy. the theme of the night was “ugly thumbs up face” so stay tuned for the montage when i get all of the pics from jess or bree. (on my birthday we did “big lips face” with a huge pair of red lips that i was given as a gift. everyone had to hold them up and get their picture taken, and then a montage was made. i guess i never blogged about that…whoops.) anyhow, Scot loved the new grill my mom and i bought for him and thoroughly enjoyed all the gifts he got that night. my boo is 26!

ok, wow.

have to make this short because i am soooo tired, but we had a very busy weekend and i am in the midst of uploading almost 300 pics from my camera and have already uploaded almost 200 from my cousin sammy’s camera. katie’s baby shower, point defiance zoo & aquarium, and general awesome hangout time with my baby cousin that i never get to see anymore. fun, fun, fun. i’ll catch up tomorrow hopefully, but here is one to hold you all over:

but these pics i snapped this morning were just begging to be uploaded. i made up an amazing song the other day that harper for some reason LOVES and it makes her stop her whining and just stare at me everytime. i’ll share it with you but be warned – it is AWESOME. *ahem* i’m gonna get your nose, beep beep beep, i’m gonna get your nose, beep beep! i’m gonna get your cheek, beep beep beep, i’m gonna get your cheek, beep beep!

i know, captivating, right? obv, when i say beep, i push on said face part. well, anywho, i sang it to her while snapping some pics this morning and heres what i got:

happyteeth

in a word: adorable. if you look closely (or enlarge the pic), you can see her 2 teefers in the second one. what a happy little biscuit. we had a fun day, went to get my nails done with my mom. there were 3 ladies who looked at me as if i were insane to bring a baby in the nail salon, then later told me they thought i was insane to bring a baby in a nail salon until they saw how well behaved she was. they then spent the rest of their visit talking to her and telling her how cute she was. per usual.

i can check “change diaper in the trunk of a car” off my mommy list. i must have looked super capable and not at all like a bad mom as i placed Harper into my moms trunk.  and a guy at home depot claimed, after seeing Harper and another baby girl looking at each other, that they were “a match made in heaven”. um, why do people keep thinking my kid is a boy? i mean, ok, she is wearing blue, but hello – it’s got flowers on it and she is wearing PINK pants. the other day at a thai restaurant, the waiter asked “boy or girl?” and when we answered girl, said “oh, i would have thought boy”. thanks for sharing. and p.s., really?

my boo turns 26 tomorrow. yeah that’s right, i robbed the cradle.
