today was awesome! we took Harper for her very first pumpkin picking trip. the weather was PERFECT, which made me happy because we were also there to get her one year pictures taken by Stacy. i’m so excited to see how they turned out, H was in a great mood, very smiley and excited about her surroundings. she loved the pumpkins! we even got a few family shots so i’m stoked on that, too. Stacy is great and i know they are going to turn out awesome.
GG came with us and we all picked our own pumpkins, plus other fun little ones, gourds, squash and dried corn. this place was amazing. here are our own photos from the day.

i will say there was only one bad part about the day. right after this last picture was taken, the little monster lost her balance and hit her chin on the pumpkin. scot scooped her up and while she was silent-screaming, noticed the inside of her lip was bleeding. UGH. i’ve never seen my child bleed before. hated it. cried like a little girl in the pumpkin patch. this is the stuff that is going to happen now. she’s going to hurt herself. i may wrap her in bubble wrap, it could happen. fortunately, she’s the toughest chick i know, and she was fine in no time. but ughhhhh, it sucked people. besided that little incident, the day was amazing and definitely a new tradition.

i had no idea how long baby colds last. i’m not happy to figure it out either. it’s been over a week and my kid is still congested. her personality is back to normal:
i feel 100% better and Scot is almost there. i miss the days where a cold only lasted 4 days and sometimes we got lucky enough that scot and myself may not even give it to eachother. those days are long gone – we have a kiddo and that means everyone gets the sickness! joy.
the weekend was pretty ok. friday night i went to a memorial for Brian and kind of wish i hadn’t. videos of him on bigscreens, his family, grown men crying everywhere…it was too much. tacoma’s heart is broken and you can see it everywhere you go. it was a rough night. sunday morning i woke to the baby crying, so i stumble into her room to get her, and Scot comes running in saying “i got it honey, go back to bed”. ::cue angels singing:: the dude had already been up, to the store and back with donuts, chocolate milk, coffee and a bouquet of flowers for me. just because. swoon and double swoon.
we had a nice day lazing around the house as a family watching football, eating and playing. it was rad! the monster is really taking a liking to saying “uh-oh” and making her new concerned/mean/”whatchu talkin’ bout” face, which cracks us up. now if only her nose would stop running…
i’ve been all kinds of crazy making decor for her birthday party (only 26 more days until my little bean is ONE!). banners, cupcake toppers, door hangers, confetti shaped like elephants, etc. pretty excited. this friday is my TEN year highschool reunion. wow. i’m nervous but really looking forward to it. then saturday we have H’s one year pics at the pumkin patch which means picking pumpkins, corn mazes and hay rides, too! so excited to see my little halloween baby in the pumpkins. squee!
i’ll leave you with a few photos since i’ve been slacking on the posts lately. peace!

well it happened. probably because the other day i tooted the “harper’s never had a cold a day in her life” horn. they heard me. they heard me and they sent their little germs our way and my poor dear got her first cold. :[ sadness i tell you. it started sunday, and that night and the next day were the worst. fever, congestion, and she was literally up ALL night. i tried sleeping with her on the couch, i tried putting her in her swing (so her nose would drain better), i tried rocking in her chair. the poor thing wasn’t even crying. she was just so congested that no sooner would she lay her head on my chest, and her nose would clog and she would gag on her own snot. it was awful. she was exhausted but couldn’t sleep. what a trooper though. at one point (i think it was 3 in the morning) as Scot and i took her temperature, i looked own and she actually had a smile on her face. red nose beaming, shiny upper lip and all, sounds of yucky stuff caught somewhere between her nose and throat – and she was smiling.
as of today, her nose is still a faucet (when does it end?), Scot and i are in full blown sick mode and i’m officially terrified to leave the house. my mom got it bad also. this sucks.
i do have some pretty cute pics to share though.
this one is just sad. monday = the worst of it. 102° fever and NO sleep. poor dear!
feeling a bit better on wednesday.
i call this one “mommy and daddy are so screwed when you’re a teenager because you already know how to make faces like this”.
miss modest.
now off to drink sleepy time tea and hope that i can sleep through my old itchy throat and stuffed nose. and to the sickness gods, please spare us the rest of the season – this really blows.
