we all scream.

tonight we decided it was the perfect evening to take the H monster to get her first ever ice cream cone. she has had bites of ice cream before, but never her very own cone. we had no expectations, besides a big mess, and she delivered. also? she loved it. which is not surprising considering she comes from a long line of ice cream lovers on both sides.

she even shared with me. which is sweet, but means she doesn’t quite get what kind of frozen liquid gold ice cream is. she’ll learn. in fact i think we’ve created a monster. she was completely silent the whole way home, either in a sugar coma or as i’d like to think, in awe of the awesomeness that just occurred. ice cream cone = tiny mind blown.

This blog post is all shades of sweetness. I'm jealous that you can give your baby ice cream. Mine is allergic to the dairy in the ice cream and the soy in the cone. **pout** I love, love, LOVE how Harper is going through the motions of licking the cone along with you in that last pick. Too cute!

Have you tried coconut milk icecream? It's great because it doesn't have milk or soy proteins! We have a milk allergy over here too :-) The brand we've bought is called So Delicious if you're interested.

Too cute! The Spawn is only 11 months and has a dairy intolerance, so no ice cream for him (I really hope he outgrows it so he can enjoy the heaven that is ice cream!). But when we go out for ice cream we get him a plain cone and just loves it.

Giving your child an ice cream parts is equal parts thrilling & distressing. All that mess! And mine refuses to wear a bib.

Aw man, you cheated. First ice cream cone should not involve a bib. I think I still have dried soft serve behind my ears 30 years later. She does like she managed to get sufficiently sticky in spite of it.

Incidentally, when I had my baby, a friend said the following: "I'm only giving you one piece of parenting advice: don't forget to photograph the first ice cream cone."

She is precious! I love the last pic where she has her mouth open and she's giving you a lick of the cone. Do you totally do that when you're feeding your kids? I always have my mouth open when I'm giving them a bite. What's up with that?

Just popped by and thought I'd say hi. First time lurker, but definitely worth commenting. You made me smile, you made me laugh. And I'm jealous because my hubby wouldn't let me call any of our children Harper. Love, love, love the name.

Have a happy life. I might pop in again sometime soon. xx
