catch up.

sometimes when i neglect my blog i feel anxious about it. but this week? it felt kinda glorious. i didn’t do it on purpose, i just didn’t really have time and didn’t really feel like i had anything to say. and every time i opened my dashboard i stared at the blinking cursor before shutting the computer.

summer is coming to a close (which is kind of a joke seeing as how we didn’t even get a proper summer) so we are trying to milk every last minute of daylight and do family things, live in the moment and cross the rest of the items off of our summer list. as much as i love me a pumpkin spice latte, i refuse to participate in such ridiculous things in august. august is summer. in fact, september is usually still summer around here. you won’t hear me talking about pumpkins and sweaters for a while around here. sorry dudes.

can you tell i’m bitter about our lack of summer weather? ::grasps at straws::

anyway, so i’m sure you saw we gave H her first ice cream cone and it was a big success (duh). wednesday was our 4 year anniversary and we went out for dinner as a threesome. it was lovely. perhaps not you know, romantical, but it was good. the monster was well behaved which any parent of a 22 month old (in a few days! freak out to commence later!) knows is kind of a miracle. i snapped this photo of my two faves on our way out:

ugh. LOVE. that’s right, capital, bold, italicized.

this week, Harper has really changed. i can’t quite explain it or put my finger on it, but she seems much more engaging (if that was even possible), more caring and more understanding of people and their feelings. Poppy and Emily came over on wednesday for a playdate. besides being a serious cute overload, it’s always nice to have adult conversation with my friend. even if the conversations are often interrupted (toddlers. sheesh.). anyway, Poppy was sad because H prolly stole the toy she was playing with (again). H got a sad look and said “oh no. Poppy crying!”. after investigating the sitch she looked at Poppy and said “are you ok?”.

my kid. my baby. all kinds of speaking in sentences and showing concern for her friend (pay no mind she was probably the one who caused her the upset in the first place ok? thxbai).

friday, the nugget and i spent some time at the park, which was awesome because no one, literally no one, was there. i have no idea how we got so lucky but it was fine by me. and of course her, because hello, the “syide” was all hers.

Scot had to work a bit this weekend, but last night we got to go out for yummy food and drinks with our friends, triple date style. today has been lounge central over here, complete with naps, doughnuts and chocolate milk. perfect sunday. awesome week. and hopefully at least a little more summer heading our way.

oh! i started a flickr when i got back from my NYC trip, so if you haven’t noticed the button over there on the sidebar, you can see my attempts at photography and fun photos of the kiddo and stuff here (i update it pretty often). and if you’re a tumblr user, i started a tumblr for random pics and thoughts. i know, like i need more outlets for social media.

i also wanted to thank you guys for always voting for the Haps on Top Baby Blogs. it means a lot to me that y’all vote because you enjoy reading (and not for instance, because i make you vote to enter contests. just saying.). anywho, you guys are awesome and i just wanted to say thanks. i hope you enjoy being here as much i enjoy having you. hearts and unicorns and all that jazz. :]

promise to be a better blogger this week.

Oh Miss Mandy…you now have me all sorts of excited for pumpkin spice lattes (and I can't lie…hearing about them got me thinking about eggnog lattes later…and well..yum) because last year I was preggers and decided to completely give up coffee and caffeine…so it has been soooo long!

I unplugged last week too – sometimes that's the break you need to feel refreshed and motivated again. Good for you.

i somehow forgot to tell david about that sweet moment of concern when harper was worried about poppy's crying! h is such a doll. seriously, she's becoming such a wonderful little human. she's always been sweet, but becoming more of a child just shows her spirit even more than ever. i love her! xoxoxo!

I know!!! Where the heck did our summer go? It did little peek-a-boo sessions with us for three months and now it's grey and raining!?!? Seriously, the girls and I will be wearing sundresses and sandals (and prolly sweaters and leggings too) until the calendar SAYS it's truly Autumn. It's already getting that crispy feeling to the air, you know? Doesn't bode well. Glad y'all could have a nice laid back week. I could sure use one of those right about now.
