you guys seemed to like taking a little look into my reader last time, so i thought i’d keep sharing. after all, i’m not greedy.

(that is totally a lie. i’m absolutely greedy. about things like coffee ice cream and control over the thermostat. but blogs, i’m not greedy. mostly.)

so here are some more blogs i love!

kendi everyday – i know i’ve mentioned her before but seriously. witty + fashion = massive girl crush. she’s adorable, i really like her style and she has great tips.

oh dear drea – darling lady with a darling baby, Marlowe. love her outlook and i really enjoy reading her adventures. don’t miss this blog, it’s lovely.

pippi parade – LOVE! chronicles the recycled and vintage fashion of Pip and man is she cute! her mama Heather is the owner of 3 ring circus, an awesome etsy shop with the best vintage goodies for little ones. check it all out.

adeline’s daddy – goodness i love daddy blogs. this one has a sweet dad, pretty mama and DARLING babeh. i always love seeing parenthood from the dad’s point of view, and Don’s love for his little family is about the sweetest thing ever.

mar & peej – seriously wish i lived closer to Marcella and her nom-able little Pella. she owns a baby boutique, blogs and kicks ace and takes names as an awesome single mama. i could stare at Peej all day, she is the CUTEST lil’ nugget.

blogged bliss – Jenna rocks my socks off. we spent a LOT of time being wacky together at blogher last year and i seriously love her to death. she is funny, we have so much in common and besides, we met bruce jenner and dora on the most random day ever. beware: her little abbers is mind-numbingly cute. i warned you.

f yeah pugs - i mean, what do i really even need to say about this?

sincerely, cecelia – love this girl and her inspirational blog – lots of good posts with fashion, home decor and everything in between. it’s just pretty! and i love her series “what’s on your nightstand” featuring bloggers and well, what’s on their nightstands!

well that’s all for today folks. i’ll keep sharing my daily reads with you guys shortly! be sure to go say check out some of these and say hello if you enjoy what ya see.

xo!

Steppin’ Out Saturday {2.26.11}

Posted on | February 26, 2011 | 26 Comments

we have a guest appearance today, made by snow, and brought to you by the weirdest week of PNW weather ever. one day it was actually sunny as snow was falling. one of the stranger things i’ve ever seen, that’s for sure. and i’ve seen weird things – i was a barista once.

today has been absolutely freezing, but we had to go to the post office and target for essentials – clearance rack stuff, wine, and a hot pretzel. this morning i took my mom to the airport so she could take off to vegas for a week celebrating that big birthday she had this week. if you live in the las vegas area and you see a really hip lady that looks like the godmother from shrek whooping it up with a 3 foot drink around her neck or something, please for the love of johnny depp take a photo and send it to me.

oh hey! i added google friend connect over there. i think i get it now. but maybe not. either way, if you use it and get it, feel free to join! and whilst your at it, go on over to moorea’s blog and enter to win a $25 credit to Opal. follow her while you’re at it – she is lovely!

can’t wait to see what y’all stepped out in today/tonight/tomorrow. happy weekend friends!

Mama Style {the doe or the deer}

Posted on | February 25, 2011 | 28 Comments

happy friday (finally)! today’s Mama Style is brought to you by my beautiful, funny and kick ace friend, Jessica from the doe or the deer. i absolutely adore her blog- she is a mama of 2 (freaking adorable) nuggets, a “tour widow” to her hubby Derek who plays the drums and a “mommy blogger” i really admire because she is always real and tells it like it is. you don’t find that too often. also? she is an amazing dresser and like myself, finds a lot of things at Target, forever21 and other affordable places. i just plain love her! and i know you will, too. so be sure to go follow her blog and say hello. you won’t be disappointed.

how has your style changed since you became a mom?
My boobs have to be easy access and no pervs, it’s not for my husband, although that’s not to say he doesn’t try get at ‘em. You never know when you got to pop a teat out and soothe that cranky beast of a baby in the middle of Target or the DMV. Okay, the DMV was a stretch…

Another change I made, since becoming a mother, is that I dress cheap. Not “hooker” cheap, but banging on the door at TJ Maxx early morning saying “open, open, open” cheap. Anything I buy now has to earn its worth. Can it be thrown up on? Pooped on? Rubbed with peanut butter jelly hands and not have a mental breakdown about it? If yes, then ring me up. Not to say I don’t wear “nice” things on occasion, but I certainly don’t let my children within a 10 foot radius of me when I do.

if you’re having a particularly crazy day, what is the beauty/style step you absolutely will not skip?
My eyebrows. If I don’t put those suckers on, I’m a dead ringer for Powder.

have you ever been mistaken for the nanny?
Like Mary Poppins nanny status? Sadly, no. But perhaps I should start carrying around a large carpetbag and date a chimney sweeper?

piece of advice for new moms who don’t want to give up their style?
None. They can find out the hard way, when they try to chase a 2 year old at the park in 6 inch stilettos. Good freaking luck.

snort. i love her. thanks Jess! see you guys back here sunday for SOS!

time keeps on spinning spinning spinning

it feels like it’s been a while since i just plain ol’ blogged about what we’ve been up to. mostly, it’s been hard to find the time to stop and even process life – you ever have those days weeks months? it’s almost mothertrucking march and my head just can’t seem to wrap around that lil’ tidbit. march. next thing i know it will be june or something. stop the madness!

weekends have been full and only seem to be getting fuller. we’ve been busy bees doing family stuff, taking trips to ikea and whatnot, and helping get things and ideas together for my bff’s august wedding. all three of us are in the wedding party and we could not be more excited about it (p.s. check out a few of their engagement session photos here – swoon and then die – by my friend stacy).

i’ve been truckin’ away on Opal and am still lovin’ it! i’m so happy to have an outlet for my love of vintage and finding things that i know someone will love and adore is really a rewarding and FUN job to have. i’ve been advertising on some blogs and in turn meeting new people and making cool relationships with new customers. i’ve been doing some international shipping on an individual basis (the shop is still not set up for it as of now), so if you’re in another country and are interested in something in the shop, please don’t hesitate to email me at opalvintage@gmail.com for shipping info. and since i love y’all and your support, please enjoy 20% off in the shop today! use code THEHAPS at checkout.

the munchkin has decided that going to bed is about the stupidest thing invented. we were all clear of the binkie, she doesn’t even ask for it anymore, when all of a sudden she flat out decides that being put to bed is dumb and instead of lay down to go to sleep as she has always done, standing in bed screaming bloody murder is a better idea. if we go in, she asks to brush her teeth again, get a drink of water, wants another hug and kiss, etc. is our two year old schooling us? pretty sure. all i know is i’m tired and i’m not a fan of this nonsense. i’m guessing this is normal 2 and almost 1/3 behavior – more words means learning to negotiate. send wine?

what have you guys been up to? i know i’ve been almost nonexistent on the twitter and whatnot. tell me what is happening in your life! and if anyone has a way to make more hours in the day, make coffee make itself and get a tiny monster to start going to bed again, by all means, come to my house. yesterday.
