well, don’t ask me how, but it’s been a year since i began steppin’ out saturday. this saturday marks 52 weeks of sharing my style (and usually Harper’s) and having you, my amazing readers and friends, join me. i never imagined it would turn into a thing, but it did and it’s one of my favorite parts of this blog.
SOS has helped me define my style, step outside of my comfort zone, and honestly has made me a lot more confident. i like thinking about what i’m going to wear, but most days i have little to no reason to really get fancied up (my idea of fancy-ing up is wearing a bra and pants without an elastic waist). SOS gives me that reason and i hope it gives some of you a reason, too. i love putting together my posts on sundays and going around to see everyone’s posts. it’s like a party and it makes me happy. it’s less about clothes and more about confidence. we aren’t changing the world here, but if we are changing the way some of you feel about yourselves, then i’m a happy lady.
this saturday, Ruche will be giving a $50 gift card to one lucky SOS’er! to enter, you have to actually link up and participate! you’re getting dressed this saturday, right? well join us on SOS and you could win. all the official giveaway deets will be up this weekend, but for now i just wanted to let everyone know there will be a fun giveaway in honor of a year of SOS.
so, see you then?

tee: target // jeans: GAP, thrifted // sweater: no tag, thrifted // shoes: target, thrifted // bag: vintage, thrifted // bracelet: flourish // necklaces: target & f21
so it’s not news: i have a slight thrifting problem. i mean, i guess it’s considered a problem to some people. but not to me, or my wallet. some days like today i realize most of what i’m wearing was bought second hand and i give myself a little mental high five. what good is doing an outfit post where everything is thrifted and probably no longer available to buy, you ask? why would we want to see what you’re wearing if we can’t go out and get it, you ask? i have no idea. my hopes are that you may find inspiration to set out and find your own goodies. sometimes you need to see a normal (i mean, you know, relatively) person wearing a grandma-chic sweater to know you can do it, too. and you can! and you should.
this bag makes me happy. i needed something to tote my laptop around in, now that i take it places with me sometimes when H goes to preschool. and by places, i do mean starbucks and by sometimes, i mean i’ve tried it twice now. the first time i spent a half an hour trying to figure out how to use the wifi, im-ing Mae swear words, until i left in a huffy puff with my supposed-tech-savvy tail between my legs (i run a blog you guys!). it was pathetic. but at least i got caffeinated first! thank gawd. the second was this day (monday), and i was successful! anywho, this bag was six dollars and i adore it.
have you guys found anything thrifty and nifty lately? i’ve been on missions lately trying to find the finishing touches for Harper’s room re-do and it’s almost there! i’m excited to share with you guys the changes we’ve made to it very soon.
tell me about your recent finds. please? it’s like my drug. give me the thrifties.

we did it! we planned a get together and it went off without a hitch. we had a wonderful turnout, a great venue, wonderful photog to snap photos and do a photo booth, and best of all – a group of amazing, funny, sweet bloggers. a big thank you to Talaricos in west seattle for accommodating us, having enormous pizzas (holy COW), a lovely server who got us drinks with a quickness and a for putting up with a gaggle of lady bloggers so darn well.

this is just a handful of the photos. aren’t they great? huge thank you to Jessica for doing such a great job with the photobooth and taking candid shots of our evening (all photos in the post by Jessica!). the photobooth pics made me snort out loud when i went through them. so good!
who are all these crazy people? here’s a list of the ladies who came (so those of you who were there can find eachother, and so those of you who weren’t can peruse some great new blogs):
moorea from moorea seal, leanne from rave and review, elizabeth from delightfully tacky, mandy from a sorta fairytale, erika from rouge and whismsy, erika from bird e studios, heidi from me as a mother, martha from marthametzler.com, meghan from chasing quinn, emily from peck life, autumn from playing house full time, chelsea from the curly cues, tracy from liberating working moms, mariah from a splendid endeavor, rachel from and then she snapped, alyssa from everydaymaven, rachell from no mark at all, lucy from lucille in the sky, jamie from what i did today, jackie and shari and samantha (three brand new bloggers!)
whew!
we’d also like to thank our fantastic sponsors: el sage, princess couture designs, alecia smith photography, tracy with scentsy, grace and stella, and belleza mia for all of the WONDERFUL prizes for our bloggers.
i had so much fun with all of these ladies. i only wish we had had even more time to get to know each other. luckily we are all pretty local so it’s time to plan more meet ups! we definitely are already talking about another big one in the spring so if you couldn’t make this one, i sure hope this post has convinced you to come out for the next one. it has, right?
feel free to link up below if you came and did a post about the event. we all want to check ‘em out.
until next time, PNWers!
