10 things.

Posted on | February 27, 2012 | 91 Comments

so i don’t think i’ve ever done one of these, but when Danielle tagged me, my former MySpace loving 20 year old past self kind of wanted to do it. and since all we’ve really been doing around here is reading books, organizing and lounging – i don’t have much to blog about. behold! 10 things.

i’m supposed to post a photo of myself, tell you 10 random things about me, and then answer some questions that Danielle picked. SHALL WE?

here is a photo of me. you guys already know what i look like, so i picked a ridiculous picture. these are the kinds of things i do between steppin’ out photos. the line to be my friend is over there!

10 random things about me:

1. i’ve been to disneyland over 30 times since i was 2 years old. my life will be complete the day we can afford to take Harper and upon arriving, i will dissolve into a puddle of tears. seriously, people will be scared of my emotional outburst when i see my kid see disneyland for the first time.

2. i’m scared of most bugs, but am TERRIFIED of moths. like, certifiable.

3. when i was 19 years old i drove with a friend from philadelphia to seattle. it took a week and it was a BLAST. someday i’d like to do the same, but across the southern united states.

4. sixteen candles is my favorite movie OF ALL TIME. i know every word or every scene. i’d advise you not to watch it with me.

5. some of my spinal fluid leaked out when i got my epidural with Harper. my recovery was the stupidest, most painful thing i’ve ever gone through because of it.

6. my mom worked for Nintendo for the majority of my childhood. as you can imagine, it ruled.

7. since my car crash 9 years ago, i’ve been scared to death of flying. i loathe it with the fire of a thousand suns – without fail i am convinced i’m dying every single time i get on a plane.

8. i’m kind of shy, have lots of anxiety issues and am not very social around people i don’t know. wine helps.

9. i have an unhealthy obsession with coffee. sometimes i can’t wait to go to bed just so i can get up and drink some.

10. i used to have a platinum blonde bob. snaps, i should bust out some pictures of that.

questions from the loverly Danielle:

1. If money, schooling or time was no obstacle, what career would you choose? interior design is something i always wanted to do.

2. What’s the one thing you look forward to every day? Scot coming home from work. Harper gets SO excited and it’s just nice to be together and hang out.

3. What is your number one, all-time, favorite blog? oh man! that is hard. there is no way i could pick because i love so many blogs for different reasons. i love the bloggess for laughing, i love grumbles and grunts and bebehblog for real life mama stuff, and i love kendi everyday for style inspiration. i failed at this question, but seriously i could never pick one blog.

4. Biggest online pet peeve? passive aggressiveness, ick.

5. What is your all-time favorite book? The Giving Tree.

6. What would your “last meal” be? probably a ridiculous steak, medium, smothered in crab meat and butter.

7. Do you believe in love at first site? i think connections can be made at first sight, but real love, no.

8. What would your ideal Sunday morning consist of? sleeping in, Harper coming into our bed, drive thru coffee and going for a drive with my family.

9. Why do you blog? above everything else, i love having a creative outlet for stories, pictures, etc. plus, i like you guys!

10. If you had to choose one color to wear forever, what would you pick? green. also? that would suck.

i’m tagging everyone who wants to participate. if this seems up your alley, here are 10 questions to answer along with your 10 random things, come back here and link your post so i can read it!

1. have you ever met someone famous?
2. what is your happiest childhood memory?
3. favorite album of all time?
4. are you a salty or sweet lover?
5. what is favorite guilty pleasure tv show or movie?
6. describe your favorite sandwich.
7. what was your first pet?
8. what is your biggest accomplishment thus far in life?
9. what is the first blog you started reading?
10. if you had to choose one dessert for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Favorite part of the picture is your expression. Awesome.

At the Seattle blogging event last summer, I thought you were the opposite of shy. Goes to show how different two perspectives can be.

And lastly, I don’t have quite as much anxiety, but I do know what you mean about airplanes. It is scary to relinquish all control. Life is so delicate, and precious.

the anesthesiologist told scot as he was leaving the room to have me drink a coffee the next day because sometimes people get headaches. but he never told anyone it had happened. after 24 hours of me being in pain, and they mentioned it might be a spinal headache and explained it, Scot said he SAW the stuff shoot out of my back but didn’t know (since ya know, he’d never seen someone get an epidural). so much rage.

best of luck with your delivery! i’m rooting for you :D

I had spinal fluid leak out when I had Liv. The hospital I was at didn’t have an epidural though, I had an intrathecal (lasts 3 hours and nothing is left in your back), but the spinal headache is the same….It made recovery the worst. I ended up going back in to get a blood patch in my spine. What did you end up doing?? I did drink a 2L of mountain dew before because they said caffeine would make my headache go away, but then I stayed awake all night…kind of counter-productive :) .

    [Reply]

    Mandy Reply:

ugh. first i drank a huge coffee and got a caffeine drip – they said it could make it go away. it did nothing. and mine was in my neck so i literally couldn’t sit up without the worst pain of my life. i declined the bloodpatch because the same ani would have done it and well, no thank you. it went away in about 4 days but man, that was hell.

I always tell my brother, “Dong!” *clap clap* “DONG!” *clap clap* “Grandpa is talking to you!” And my entire family makes the shower scene BOINNNNG sound, like, every time we’re together. It’s a family favorite.Okay, I love you even more after this post. As if that was even possible, obv.
