I got really nervous the other night as we were watching a show on TLC (I think it was TLC…maybe Travel channel – anywho) about people who were obsessed with Christmas decorations. One lady had hundreds of fake trees in her house, another family used their 13 acres to house more blow up lawn figures than any person should own. Scot was a little too into to it for my taste. I love the holidays but let’s not, ok?
He has been having fun doing lights outside and it’s been fun watching him (he wears a santa hat when he does it – seriously). I appreciate that Harper knows the magic of the holidays because her dad is showing it to her. The other day she exclaimed, “daddy you’re my special happy Christmas buddy”. I mean, you can’t argue with that kind of cute.
Meanwhile, I’ve been decorating inside and it’s been fun figuring out where to put our decorations in our new house. We’ve been to a few handmade fairs recently and we picked up a few new things (the coolest birch candle holders and a big gourd painted like santa). The house feels cozy and having the familiar decorations up have really made it feel like home. I’m excited to spend our first Christmas here!
No tree yet – ours died before the big day last year and we had to pull out our fake one – but soon hopefully. I thought I’d share some pictures of our decor and let you guys link up your decor posts. Pinterest is great but I love seeing real peoples homes and decorations for inspiration.
Giant pine cones are giant.
Cutest little angel passed down to me from my aunt.
New bar cart I bought is ready to make some festive as feck holiday drinks (people on my FB page have some really good ideas, you should probably check them out).
These are the birch candles, aren’t they pretty? There’s actually a 3rd shorter one on the other side. I might need to keep these out all year.
No mantel in this house (though I’d really love to get a big chunky wood one someday) so our stockings are hung on the windowsill with care.
I’d love to see your posts about your holiday decorations, so please feel free to link up below if you’d like!
