the paper mama is having a photo challenge right now called “finger prints”. it can be of your little one’s fingers or toes. i chose this photo, which has both and i love her little chubby feet, still hanging on to her babyhood.

oh! and i will be back soon with stories of our week of vacation! it has been lovely and i’m sure i will need come serious e-hugs (as will Harper) on monday when the mister is back at work. but for now we are still rocking vaycay! hope you’re all doing awesome.

summer is here! like, hopefully for reals this time. monday it was rainy and today? almost 90 degrees. the old joke about summer starting on july 4th in the PNW is true i suppose. it’s really important to me to take advantage of every sunny day we have because we never know when it’s going to leave us. so today we packed up early and headed over to my friend Emily’s house to have a kiddie pool playdate. the day was seriously awesome, full of giggly girls, yummy snacks, splishes and splashes, and gossipy good times.

the girls had the best time in the pool and grazing on cheese and crackers (literally they ate the entire time, just going back and forth from the pool to the food – these ladies love their snacks). Em and i lounged in the sun (until one of them would wander over to the edge of the yard, so lounge maybe isn’t the most accurate word) and ate hummus and watermelon and talked as best we could with two babies toddlers running around. almost every story had to be started 3-6 times (“Harper, don’t take that from Poppy” and “Poppy, we don’t pull hair”) but we got all caught up before naptime. quite different from our former “friendship fridays” we used to have pre-babies when we’d grab coffee, go shopping and have martinis at lunch. but i know neither of us would have it any other way.

here is a little vid of the girls. it’s only slightly cute. and by slightly i mean it IS STUPID CUTE AND IT MAKES ME FEEL THINGS IN MY HEART PARTS.

calgon, take her away.

but please promptly return her. she’s cute and we’d miss her. plus that whole tax deduction thing.

today we went to jane clark park with em, david and poppy. we met at forza for some iced coffee and bagels and soaked in the a/c. then off to the park! naked baby party 2009 commenced there and we had tons of fun.

could you just die over poppy’s chins and chub?!? i almost did numerous times. so freaking presh. going to the park gets increasingly harder as H literally will not sit still for a second. she was all over the place giving this mama a workout. it was about 10 degrees cooler today than it was yesterday (yesterday was the hottest day on record (103) in seattle EVER since weather has been being recorded in 1891 – and it was 108 in redmond – gross), so the shade wasn’t terrible, even at 90 degrees. the wading pool made it even better.july09 390

if both the girls weren’t so tired by this point (poppy almost actually fell asleep in the water!), we would have sat in it for hours, but they both needed naps badly. i don’t know about poppy, but harper went to bed way early since she completely decided to skip her nap all together today. took about 10 minutes in the car and that was it. crazy kid.july09 382

there is something so comforting knowing you and your best friends kids will grow up together. years from now we will have these and many more pictures and memories to look back on and the kids will always have familiar faces and love around them. makes me feel mushy!

anyways, after some tasty sammiches, salads and orange pelegrino at josepi’s, the monster and i headed home. she had a nice big cold bottle, cuddles with daddy and hit the hay about an hour before her normal bedtime. such a great day!
