last night i headed out with some friends for some dinner, frozen yogurt, and mall wandering. at this point in my life, that is a perfectly acceptable, if not desired, saturday night. we all had so much fun sans kiddos, talking and telling stories about our kiddos, life with kiddos. it was a much needed night out, and we even took it up a notch on the middleschool feeling by trying on large hats and getting scolded for taking photos in forever 21.
it was also the mall i grew up going to and haven’t been back to in forever so it was really strange thinking about all the time i spent there back in the day walking around with my friends scoping out cute boys. literally just walking around and around with an orange julius to look at boys. Harper is never allowed to go to the mall.
by the end of the night, my sweater had shed about a trabillion little fuzzies onto my pink pants and i had furry weird pants. sometimes i’m so fancy it hurts.

i got these jeans for 4 dollars and they are super comfy. in real life, they don’t look that whiskery. but after seeing photos, i must resign these comfy jeans to the cleaning and at home only pile. oh, i will still wear them. yes i will. just not anywhere anyone can see me. because they are that comfy, like pajamas! pajeggings, if you will.
Harper looked so cute last night. you’ll just have to take my word for it because she refused to be in the photos. she wore a gray polkadotted skirt and her hair was in braided pigtails. it was darling, i promise you that.
we went out for dinner with our closest friends for Doug’s birthday. we hit up Marrow again, one of our favorite places, where they just changed over to their winter menu. i had the bison shortribs with brussel sprouts, Scot had the bone marrow with duck confit. sounds friggin’ fancy, no? it was delicious as always.
i finally got my hands on some lip butter by revlon. target had a few colors left, i picked up the cherry tart and we’re now madly in love. i’ve been wearing rimmel for my bright red for a long time now, but this lip butter is so moisturizing and shiny. going to try out some more colors when i can fo sho.
today we’re off for a coffee run, some grocery shopping, then we’re baking cookies and making valentines for H’s class. tomorrow they are having a teddy bear picnic and they all bring a teddy bear and are going to eat and take them on adventures. if i don’t die of the cute, i should be back here to blog later. if i do die, at least it was for a worthy and noble cause – small humans pretending to eat lunch with teddy bears.

any excuse to quote peewee herman, amirite?
Harper picked this outfit out herself and insisted on getting herself dressed. the problem is she is still learning that last part so it usually ends up in tears because she tried to put her head through the arm hole or can’t pull her pants up or whatever. this time was no exception. she was in her room screamcrying and don’t you dare ask her if she would like some help. because she would NOT LIKE ANY HELP IN FACT GO AWAY RIGHT NOW MOMMY. oh joyous day, i cannot wait for the teenage years with this one. how much is wine by the case? there’s a discount for that right?
you can’t see but she is wearing red and black striped socks. i love her choices.
we stepped out to a going away party for our dear friend Matto, as he is moving to portland. this is where i’d say something like “bye Matto, we will miss you!” but he refuses to even come to my blog because he is legitimately offended by the amount of cute that Harper brings. you should see him talk about it, it’s hilarious. he gets mad. about cute. go to portland or something you weirdo.
happy sunday! also knows as superbowl sunday. most importantly known as the day i dance the JIG OF JOY because football has come and gone again. dance dance dance dance
link up buddies!

friday and february already? ok universe, if you say so.
this week was pretty laid back and lovely. there was coffee, a playdate (lookie that Brynn’s cheeks!), more coffee, of course mini-topknots, and a lady date with Elizabeth, Amy, Lindsy and Bree for dirty burgers. what makes them dirty? well, it’s the way you feel after you eat one – so incredibly dirty and full of self loathing for having just enjoyed a pile of food as much as you did. burger, cheese, thick cut bacon, garlic mayo and tomato jam on a pretzel bun. i have mentioned it numerous times here and probably will again, because i have dreams of this burger. if you’re local, hit up DOA and get one. or the elk sliders. or the greek burger. or anything on the menu. i get my burger with garlic fries because i hate myself.
Harper now has 2 levels of fashion attire – naked with undies OR omg wearing every piece of fairy attire she owns at one time. she goes from jammies to naked in .6 seconds, then from naked to fairy like it’s her job. we are talking tutu, wings, headpiece and wand. most of my days consist of picking up tulle and clothes strewn about the house.
besides no clamp curls and Kristen Bell, here a few other things i loved this week:
Stacy threw her son a Mario birthday party. freaking love it.
i bought this gelaskin for my phone and it’s on its way! NEON ANIMALS.
massive blog crushes – Oana Befort and designlovefest.
we have been downing smoothies like it’s our job. Harper’s two favorites have been this one and this one.
and thank you to Lisa for bringing this amazing blog to my attention. hilarity.
how was your week?
