so you know Mae, right? of course you do. she’s my BIFF (best internet friend forever). my right hand lady on the web. and one of the best, most awesomest, funniest friends i’ve ever known. i mean, i met her on the internet, but we are real life friends. forever and ever amen.
and she has started a business. and it’s lovely. so i wanted to share it with you.
life’s candy is her new etsy shop where she is creating and selling pretty tablewear like napkins and placemats. her and her hubby, Christopher, have other fun things up their sleeves for the future, too.
she’s making gorgeous napkins and placemats out of pretty and fun fabrics that i just love. they’re all formal enough for say, dinner parties, but at the same time, casual for a fun brunch (or tea party! i wanna have a tea party…). especially awesome? she’ll do custom orders! see a placemat you’d like to be a napkin or vise versa? want that print with that trim? mkay. convo her on etsy. ta naa!
the napkins Mae sent me are adorable and i’m in love (birdies! in cages!).
adorable, yes? and since Mae is da best and super generous, she wants to give one reader of the haps a $30 credit to life’s candy! there are a few ways to enter, so check it out:
mandatory entry: go over to life’s candy and tell me here what your favorite item is in the shop.
additional entries:
- leave a comment here guessing where the shops name came from…do you know? (you don’t have to be right for the entry to count, btw).
- follow life’s candy on twitter and leave a comment here saying you did so.
ready go! get your entries in by friday february 18th at midnight PST. and thanks to my lovely and talented friend Mae for hosting this giveaway, always answering my blackberry messenger freakouts, skyping with me, and generally putting up with all my shenanigans.

it’s no secret how much i adore gregg and megan of Modern Bird Studios. it’s safe to say some of my favorite items in my entire house came from them. i’d grab my MB pieces if my house caught on fire and i had an extra moment. seriously.
so when they told me they were starting another venture, geared towards kiddos called ModTots, i swooned. i knew they’d knock it out of the park. when they told me there would be a narwhal? let’s just say that pants? peed. and when my narwhal (and Harrison the Fox) arrived on my doorstep, they were as amazing as i knew anything by gregg would be.

they’re making these little pieces of awesome in all sorts of animals, and have recently added robots (!) and monsters and dinosaurs are on their way. these works of art are customizable (choose your background color after you choose your animal or robot) and the perfect addition to any nursery, kids room, or even home office (what? no i will not steal the narwhal from Harper and put it in my workspace. ::side eye::).
each piece is handmade, one at a time, by gregg. yours is created when you order it. super sweet extra to ModTots? if you’re the first to order an animal, robot, or soon monsters and dinosaurs – you get to name it. from then on, that animal (etc) is named after you or your kid. i love it!
and because the modsters are the amazing people that they are, they’d like to give one of you a $100 gift certificate to use at ModTots! To enter, simply do the following (multiple entry chances):
- go over to ModTots, peek around and tell me what you’d get if you won!
- follow ModTots on the Twitter
- like ModTots on the Facebook
please remember! leave a separate comment for each of these yo do!
this is open to residents of the US and Canada. if you don’t want to wait to win, and get to naming an animal or robot, use the code HARPER at checkout for 10% off your order at ModTots, now through february 21st. i will draw a winner using random.org and announce the winner monday the 14th. please get all your entries in by midnight PST on the 13th!
ready? go!
