this week was a rollercoaster. we started off sick, thought we were all getting better, then realized no, we’re still sick. actually i’m still not sure if we’re sick or just worn down with allergies or something. whatever the duece is going on i’d really like it to stop because we’ve got stuffs to do and hopefully some spring weather to enjoy. germs are jerks. as is pollen.
the highlight of the week was the big girl bed transition which continues to be mostly a success. yesterday around 11 am she went upstairs “to hang out and read in my bed”. after a few minutes it was pretty quiet so i headed up to see what i’d find (thinking clothes tornado or coloring on the walls was on the menu) and there she was in her bed, eyes droopy. i asked her what she was doing and she said “i love my new bed. i kiss it a lot sometimes.” all drunk like and then passed out. i don’t even know. 11 in the morning?!
my love affair with instagram continues. bingo-ing all over the place this week with food, coffee, sleeping kid and…more food. follow the madness @teammandy.
i hope everyone has a great weekend, and here is to a much better week next week. don’t forget to enter to win my Oreck giveaway if you haven’t already! TGIFF, yo.

apparently it’s been 2 weeks. again. Harper and i had an amazing day last week where we had a pretty good thrifting adventure on our ladydate. remember the story about the toddler bed? well tuesday was the big day. the crib came down, the toddler bed went up (after a thorough disinfecting of all surfaces and tightening of all screws by the dude of the house). the excitement from the little one was out of this world. i was terrified, sad, a tiny bit excited – it was bittersweet. but mostly terrifying – she can just…get out.
anyways, i think this is one of the better thrifting finds (and stories) i’ve ever had!

i got the sheet from pottery barn, her comforter was a gift from Silky’s Cloud last year (we LOVE it, the filling is silk and hypoallergenic), the pilowcase and quilted pillow were thrifted and the blanket on the end is actually a tiny sleeping bag that i got at an antique store. the pattern is one of the cutest things i’ve ever seen.
so how did the first night go? it took her about an hour to actually go to sleep. i’m sure after we closed the door it hit her like a ton of bricks that she was freeeeee to get up and move about the cabin like a boss. we could hear her and she was most certainly out of the bed. i braced myself for a tornado of clothes, toys and a small child asleep in front of the door – but when it got quiet and i peeked in? all i could see was her tiny head, in bed, peeking out from the comforter. and then i cried. BUT WHATEVER I’M SURE THAT’S NORMAL.
the next morning at 8:15 she yelled “mommmmmy i’m awake!” and when i opened the door she was sitting there in her bed. naked, but in bed (homegirl cannot keep clothes on these days for the life of her). we had a massive high five and knucks party and went on with our day. naptime was as successful – just some roaming around, disrobing, and then passed out in the bed.
(don’t worry, i’m well aware that as time passes there will be a small child in our bed, staring at me while i’m sleeping, trying to get cookies from the pantry, etc etc etc. but JUST LET ME HAVE THIS RIGHT NOW OK ::crylaughs::)

my heart pretty much can’t take anymore excitement this week. this photo alone nearly killed me.

on Harper >> dress: vintage, thrifted // shoes: target // sweater: childrens place, thrifted.
happy monday! monday is a perfectly acceptable day to post a saturday link up when you’ve been gone for 4 days, forgot your own suitcase so had to buy $5 maternity tops off the yakima target clearance rack (I AM NOT PREGNANT) along with travel size EVERYTHING and new underwear and…well you get it. so easter, yeah?
ours was lovely! save for all that talk up there about the forgetting our suitcase of course (at thanksgiving we forgot Harper’s suitcase when we went over the pass to my in-laws. this time we were both so obsessed with getting hers into the car we left our joint one in the living room. genius!). we had a glorious weekend in eastern washington, me and my maternity tops. ok but seriously, i have a ton of photos to share of all of our fun later this week. for now let us bask in the glory that is this freaking dress. the cute, it burns. i am SO glad i snatched this up last year and was patient enough to wait for it to fit. because i die! she also chose the leopard shoes, which take it right on up a notch in my book.
between Scot, my MIL, my FIL and myself, i think we re-hid all the easter eggs a total of eleventeen times yesterday. she was obsessed with finding them, it was adorable. she also passed right out at the table while we were all eating from the devastating downward swoop of her sugar high. just pushed Scots arm aside and conked right out in his lap. more ham for me!
did you guys have a good weekend? can’t wait to hop around (see what i did there) and see everyone’s outfits. i mean, of course if you haven’t given up on me, it being monday and all.

well this is exciting. all of us lowly android users got to join the fancy apple users this week as Instagram launched it’s app. the app seems pretty good, although i have never had the original to compare it to. i do know it’s missing a few features that iphone has, like the tilt shift option. and i’m sure it’s due to adding like a flajillion users in a week, but it runs pretty slow. i also heard it isn’t available at all for certain android phones, which would have put me into some sort of blind rage had it been me. only kidding. but seriously.
in only a few short days i think i’ve pretty much won in instagram bingo. pictures of my food, sleeping child, my hair, flowers and my shoes even made an appearance! damn, i didn’t take one picture of coffee. which is insane considering how much of it i drank this week. BETTER LUCK NEXT WEEK, NEWBIE.
i’m excited to try some of the fun extras that Danielle posted about this week, too! so i’m teammandy on there, let’s be frands.
oh, this week also brought word that i’ll be um, speaking at blogher this year? Jill from Baby Rabies submitted a fabulous room of your own (ROYO) idea and included me, Charlie from How to Be A Dad, and Gina from The Feminist Breeder and enough people said they’d attend it, so it’s on! the session will be about “dressing” for the blog you want, accepting that maybe your blog is more than you originally intended it to be and embracing that. i hope if you’ll be in NYC for blogher that you’ll consider attending our session and yes of course, feel free to snicker at me. i’ll be the one at the end nodding a lot. hey that camel pack of wine might come in handy.
