Giveaway // Tribe Bags

Posted on | December 9, 2011 | 708 Comments

this giveaway is now closed – Rachel Albert was the winner! Thanks to everyone who entered!

i’m so excited! today, Tribe Bags has generously offered up an amazing giveaway for my readers and one of you will win big. let’s get our jumpkicks and air punches out of the way right now, shall we?

(go ahead, i’ll be right here. doing mine.)

ahem.

so this past monday i shared my weekend mama style with you guys, including my new Tribe Bag, which i adore. we are attached at the hip these days, and i don’t see that changing anytime soon. all of Tribe’s gorgeous bags are genuine leather (it smells amazing, if you’re into that sort of thing WHICH I AM), and as we discussed the other day, the inside is a vast ocean of places to put things. it’s so organized though, that i have had no trouble finding things, which is awesome because the last thing i need to be doing as Harper REALLY needs her winter nose wiped is digging around for kleenex. which i absolutely was doing with my regular purse (see also: trying to find snack while toddler melts down, trying to find chapstick, trying to not curse while sippy cup leaks onto all of my belongings. you know, etc and all that).

now, these are diaper bags. we kissed diapers goodbye a few months ago (the glorious, it hurts) but i dub them also to be toddler bags. i think you get at what i’m saying: i love my tribe bag. and you will, too.

so let’s get to the good stuff, that you’ve undoubtedly scanned over my rambles to get to: the giveaway.

Tribe is giving away a bag of your choice to one very lucky reader of The Haps (a $400-$530 value, depending on which you choose). there are a few ways to enter, so here is the dealio:

>> first entry (required): head over to Tribe and comment here telling me which bag you’d get if you were to win (don’t worry you won’t be held to it).

>> second entry (optional, for an extra chance to win!): like Tribe on the Facebook, and leave a SEPARATE comment here telling me you did so.

{logistics: this giveaway is only open to US residents. entries will be accepted here until Thursday December 15th and the winner will be announced on Friday December 16th. Tribe sent me a bag for review, and all opinions are my own. no compensation was otherwise received.}

ready? go!

Mama Style // Tribe bag

sweater: gap, thrifted // top: target // jeans: old navy // boots: target // bag:  singapore sling in cognac, courtesy of Tribe

about 6 months ago, i packed up my diaper bag and put it away. i was eager to go back to a purse and started just throwing everything that Harper and i needed into my satchel style bag and heading out the door. the problem with all of my purses/bags is that they have no pockets or compartments so once you put diapers (she was still in them), a sippy, snacks, my wallet, maybe my camera, phone and all the other things we needed, it was all mary poppins style trying to get anything out. it was a mess. yet i kept on.

Tribe is a new company, started by mom Rosie Jansen, making gorgeous diaper bags that are super stylish. it wasn’t until i started using mine (the second it arrived on my doorstep, thankyouverymuch) that i realized that although i have a three year old, potty trained toddler – it is still makes sense to use a “diaper” bag. the compartments! the organization! ALL THE THINGS within reach. i have fallen in love all over again.

the inside is a dream for semi-ocd people like myself – zip pockets, open pockets, places for bottles or sippies (or your water bottle). inside is a changing pad and two water resistant pouches for a change of clothes, toys, etc. i have been putting a change of undies for the nugget in there in case of emergency, and i leave the changing pad at home, obviously. outside are two more pockets perfect for bottles, two open pockets (with clip for keys and spots for pens) and two zipper pockets as well! holy places for stuff, batman.

i also love the fact that the bag (mine is in Cognac) goes with everything and doesn’t even look like a diaper bag! and i can sling it over my shoulder like my satchel purses, which is the most comfortable for me. the strap is adjustable so you can make it perfect for you.

price-wise, it is steep. i personally cannot afford this bag, and i know most new moms also can’t. but for those of you who can, or people who want something really special to last through all of your little ones (i’m excited to stuff actual diapers and other baby goodies in this someday), this is an amazing option.

i wore this comfy ensemble to cut down our Christmas tree! i’ll share photos later this week (Harper was too cute), andplusalso – this is a good time to let you know that Mama Style is returning weekly! with more lovely moms from around the web as the new year gets going. i’m so excited! it’s one of my favorite features.

i’m stoked to own this gorgeous bag, and am very thankful to Tribe for sending it to me. but i’m even more stoked that i get to give one away to one of you, starting friday. see you then?

Bluum: an Interview

Posted on | September 23, 2011 | 7 Comments

remember last month when i told you about the new company, bluum, that would be launching this month? well it’s here, and it’s awesome! i received my first bluum box recently and was really impressed. Harper loved opening it with me and finding a few goodies inside for her, and i loved getting to try out a few great products for myself. the packaging was really fun, cute, and clever (there was a “menu” inside showing what each product was). bluum, where were you the past three years of my life? well, there’s always next time…wink.

i asked Nicole, the Brand Ambassador for bluum (and expecting mama!) some questions about the new service that will bring samples of baby and beauty products to your door each month.

How did the idea of bluum come about?

Bluum came about after three time dad and Co-founder Markus Rauschnabel realized how hard it was for new moms (including his wife!) to adjust their lives after their baby arrived: spending most of the time with your little one at home while at the same time trying to find the best products for baby (and mom) posed a real challenge. Markus then formed his team – and voila - the first product discovery service for new moms and babies was born!

How much does is cost to be part of bluum?

You can subscribe to bluum 3 different ways:

> Our annual membership is the best value at $108/$9 per month and includes 108 bluum bux (which you can redeem in our online shop for full size products).

> Our 3 month membership is $33/$11 per month and 33 bluum bux.

> Lastly, you can also pay as you go at $12 per box and 12 bluum bux.

Why do you think parents will benefit from a service like bluum?

When I first found out I was pregnant I was overwhelmed by the amount of products on the market. I wanted to try everything, but clearly that was impossible. I had no idea where to begin and what to buy. Bluum gives parents the opportunity to test out an array of products without fully committing or blowing tons of cash each month on items that just don’t work. By subscribing to bluum, you are able to narrow down your choices and commit to products that you and your baby truly love.

How does bluum choose the products that will go in their boxes?

At bluum we know how important choosing the right product is. We only select products that we ourselves would use on our children and that we feel our customers will love. Some of our picks are brands that have been tried and true while others will be up and coming with innovative ideas we are sure you will be excited to try!

What is the funnest part of being a part of bluum?

Working at bluum has been an absolute dream – I am surrounded by all the best there is for my baby as well as beauty and wellness products for me (mama needs love too!) And of course, our team is fabulous. Working with such talented and committed individuals is the icing on the cake.

fine printage: bluum sent me a box to try out free of charge for review. all opinions are my own, per uge.

Steppin’ Out Saturday {7.2.11}

tee: c/o Five Bamboo
shorts: old navy
belt and sunnies: h&m
wedges: target
necklace: f21
bracelet: flourish
clutch: c/o Krust

wheeeee! summer is here! it was actually over 80 degrees this saturday. glorious, i tell you. there’s a bit of a joke in Washington that summer doesn’t start until july 4th but TAKE THAT OLD JOKE (which isn’t really funny at all, it’s actually super depressing). but my friend Nik’s theory is the best no matter what: “summer in washington starts july fourth and ends when either kenny loggins or chesney play the puyallup fair”.

so this is my new favorite tee. the kind folks at Five Bamboo (who will get that joke up there because they are Seattle based – yay local companies!) sent me this v-neck. Five Bamboo makes their line of apparel out of sustainable bamboo lyocell and it’s super soft and comfy. they have tons of cute dresses, tees and even undies in pretty colors that you should check out (dudes, too!).

and i decided to break in my new Krust bag! i’m so in love with these stripes. and the inside is turquoise like the heart. last night i took my wallet, phone, lipstick and camera and i could have still fit a cardigan (which i should have because it got windy later) and lots of other goodies in it. i never knew how much i could love a giant clutch, but now i can’t live without my Krust bags. girl is going places, i tell you what.

are you guys having a good holiday weekend? we are off to a family bbq today and Scot actually gets tomorrow off. we don’t have plans yet but i’m betting it will involve sunscreen. summer is heeeeere and we have a summer bucket list to get to before the Kenny’s come.

shoot, now i want an elephant ear and some scones.
