hey girl hey! it’s another high on thrifting thursday. these are becoming one of my favorite things – i love seeing all the awesome stuff you guys find and it’s nice to know i’m not the only one who’s digging around at thrift shops for goodies. i can’t believe how many of you like thrifting! well i mean, i can because it’s seriously awesome, but you know. go on with your bad selves.
i told you about the little second hand sale my mom and i came across this past saturday – here are a few of the awesome goodies i grabbed. not pictured, a perfectly adorable little people house complete with a bag of people and furniture. the house is SO CUTE, it has a doorbell and when you shut the window it makes cricket noises and when you open it it chirps like a bird. ten dollars AND it’s H’s very favorite new toy.
yes you’re reading that right – 3 dollars for a pair of salt waters, 2 dollars for a pair of TOMS and 50 cents for a blabla doll. um, yeah. scores galore!
later i found this skirt at my favorite goodwill. i cannot WAIT for a date night i can put it to use. i never find good skirts to the point where i don’t even know why i bother looking anymore. when i came across this one AND in my size i seriously looked around and wanted to be like “you see this? this little guy? COME AT ME BRO!” but that would be weird so instead i just punched the air a few times.
polka dots AND pleats? i mean come on.
what have you hooligans been up to? i can’t wait to see what everyone has found in the last 2 weeks. link up your second hand posts below!

another fun busy weekend over here! it’s crazy how slowly the winter months go by and then spring hits and you see that every weekend from now until fall is suddenly packed with stuff to do. yesterday my mom and H and i went and did some errands (Scot was busy working again and dude, do we miss him. luckily today is all family, all day. highkicks!). on accident we came upon a preschool having a second hand sale where some of the moms had gathered gently used clothes and toys to sell. it. was. awesome. i scored these saltwaters for 3 bucks. i know saltwaters are super popular right now, but i don’t care. they remind me of my childhood and hello, these are purple and shiny. oh and THREE DOLLARS. i also found some other goodies that i think i’ll share with you guys this thursday on HOTT. it was a very happy accident to run across, mom and i highfived when we walked out.
later in the evening when Scot was home we all headed to my moms place and enjoyed the water view for a while. then Scot and i headed out for dinner with Bree & Barham. it’s safe to say this is my new favorite top. i found it at a store called ROMY on the clearance rack. who would put a shirt with commas and apostrophes on clearance, ever? all i could think of while wearing it was this:
have i ever talked about my friends obsession here? i don’t think so and it’s probably for the better. regardless, that is from pretty much my favorite episode of all time. so much gold. (gif via)
hope you’re (see what i did there) all in the midst of a great weekend!

SPRING! like, legitimately. well, maybe. who knows really, this is washington. but! at least it felt like spring yesterday! and we are supposed to have a 75 degree day today (my favorite number of degrees). sandals have been busted out and white jeans are making an appearance. white jeans scare me for multiple reasons but i decided to go for it.
yesterday was pretty awesome (besides the fact that Scot was doing some work so he missed the fun – sad face emoticon). my mom, Harper and i hit up the farmers market, a few nurseries and garage sales. i always love spending time with my mama, extra points for sunshine and errands that are fun.
Harper headed off to my moms for the night and Scot and i had ourselves a dinner date and then met up with bree and barham for some amazing cocktails at 1022. i’ve told you guys about this place before, yes? the drink menu changes as the seasons do and the things they put together are so unique and tasty. my favorite is the lavender, but i tried something The Lost Steps – cachaca, basil, cucumber and their house made ginger beer. highly suggest going if you find yourself in tacoma (seriously just check out that menu!).
today is my grandmas 85th birthday! we are all heading up to celebrate with her and plant some flowers in this ridiculously lovely weather. hope you are all having a great weekend. i’ll be back this week with a big fundraiser raffle to benefit March of Dimes – get your five dollars ready.

this giveaway is now closed! the winner was Emily. thanks to everyone for entering!

i always have a really hard time starting off posts where i talk about something awesome that i am now completely borderline obsessed with (code orange). i’m always afraid that i’m going to sound like i’m selling something and it’s really hard to portray how much i like something without sounding really gung-ho and using lots of exclamation points!!! i feel especially silly when the thing i’m totally freaking out over is used to suck the dirt out of my carpets. but here we are.
and i am totally freaking out over this vaccum cleaner from Oreck.
the thing is, our vacuum prior to this glorious piece of machinery smelled and sounded like it was going to catch right the hell on fire every time we used it. i liked to imagine it was sucking up all the stuff, but the truth was it wasn’t. and we are dealing with a toddler, 2 dogs (one of whom sheds like a mofo) and a long haired cat. the dirt, it is dirty.
i was skeptical when i pulled the Oreck Magnesium out of the box – it’s really light and almost feels like a toy. but i was shocked to find that it worked – better than any vacuum i’ve ever owned. this is what happens when you buy the cheapest vacuum you can get instead of investing in a nice one. once you try a legit one you wonder how much nasty stuff your cheapie has been leaving behind (spoiler alert: a lot). truly, our carpets have never looked better after vacuuming, to the point where Scot and i both want to vacuum – it’s a sickness and i blame Oreck.
a few of my favorite features on the Mag (we’re on a nickname basis now): it’s so lightweight – we have stairs and carrying it up to do the second level is so easy now. it unfolds completely flat, perfect for under the bed (um, someday when there isn’t stuff under there?) and little tables, the couch, etc. also the cord is really long so i can do the entire floor with out having to switch outlets. glorious.

get in there.
the only thing i don’t love is it does use a bag. luckily you can buy them online and there is an Oreck store in the next town over from us. honestly the bag doesn’t even bother me that much after using the vacuum for a few weeks, because it works so well the trade off is fine (the one we had before was a canister that we had to empty and it was gross anyhow). another thing that could be a plus or a minus depending on what you prefer is that there are no attachments. but you can buy a package that includes this bad boy, which is awesome (or you could win them down there…just saying).
this little guy also uses a bag (cute little bag is cute) and has a bunch of attachments and a super crazy extended hose. i use this on the stairs, the couch and along the baseboards. it’s got a little shoulder strap so you can just shimmy around the house cleaning the crap out of it. best ever. bonus: long cord as well.
since Oreck is so awesome they want to give one reader of the Haps a chance to win this same get up that they gave me: a Magnesium with a little Ultimate Handheld on the side (a $599.99 value – hey-o!). a combo of cleaning glory that you will love, future winner.
there are a few ways to enter!
>> the first and mandatory entry is to head over to Oreck and comment here on one thing you learned about the Magnesium.
if you’d like some extra chances to win, here are some more. please leave a separate comment for each that you do:
o Follow @oreck on Twitter.
o Like Oreck on Facebook.
o Sign up for Oreck’s email list by clicking on “Sign up for Email” in the top navigation bar and entering your email address.
that’s it! then of course you’re going to want to cross your fingers.
the giveaway winner must be a resident of the 48 contiguous states (argh, sorry!) and Oreck kindly provided me with these products. Oreck Corporation provided the prize for the sweepstakes but is not the sponsor of the sweepstakes.
entries will be accepted until thursday, april 26th at midnight PST. i’ll announce the winner the following day. good luck!
