if nothing else, HOTT really makes me realize how fast 2 dang weeks fly by. i did get a few books the other day for Harper but didn’t do any other thrifting besides that since the last post. so i thought i’d share some of my favorite past second hand finds, and show you the gallery wall i did using thrifted pictures and frames.
remember mr. horse from the first HOTT link up? there he is, in all his horsey glory. both the feather (fern?) and the floral picture are fabric stretched over wood frames. pretty much all of the photo frames are thrifted as well, except the large white one which is from target. i’m really happy with how this wall turned out!
this piece in Harper’s room still stands as one of my favorite things i’ve ever found. the colors are just awesome. i found this at a st. vincent de paul and it had no tag. when i asked the lady how much she said “i dunno, one ninety nine?”. i felt bad for the person who took so much time to do this, both because the person it was made for gave it up and i was getting it for two dollars. it’s in a good home super embroider-er!
i also got this stool for 2 bucks and i love it. unfortunately the cat loves it and uses it to propel herself onto the window sill above and has consequently ruined the blinds but she’s a honey badger, you know?
i got this dress last year when it was way too big for H, but thought it would make the cutest easter dress. and here we are. yay! i have a feeling she will ask to wear leopard or glitter shoes with it, which are both admirable choices.
looking forward to seeing what you guys have found in the last 2 weeks! link up your posts about thrifting, yard sale-ing, antiquing – anything second hand will do. please remember to link the post url, not your blog url, so people can go straight to the goods!

hello mouth breathers! welcome back to yet another HOTT where we wax poetic about the joy of second hand finds. or at least show off what we’ve found. i haven’t gotten much thrifting in recently because i’ve been spring cleaning and actually dropping things off. but! i did get one good trip in last week with the H monster. we got a few books for her collection and then she spotted this piece of awesome and asked if she could have it for her room.

i haven’t had a chance to hang it yet, but it’s just darling and i love that she picked it herself (although, hello, i would have snatched it up had i spotted it first – embroideries are my favorite and this one is so cute). she says the squirrel is her favorite.
while we were there i spotted a minty green/gray chair that was marked at $14.99. it was so pretty and i really wanted it for this weird little nook in our bedroom but with a toddler and the whatnot, the logistics of actually taking it home sounded like a lot of work. but i kept thinking of it after we went home. it was in such good condition and such a cool color that i assumed it was already gone. Scot and i stopped by that night just to check and it was still there! minty green chair destiny.
i love it so much! the cat also loves it. and so does a certain little human.
excited to see what you guys have been up to and finding! link (directly) to your thrifty posts and have fun checking out other people’s second hand finds.
p.s. unrelated sidenote: if you’d like a medium or small ad for April 1st, get $5 off using code SPRING5 right here. i’ve permanently lowered my prices also, so go check it!

i was so stoked to have 37 of you link up your thrifty finds on the last HOTT (that will never stop being funny to me) post 2 weeks ago. i said i’d keep this up as long as there is interest in it and it seems like there is so here we are again!
this past weekend my local goodwills had a 3 day sale – when you walked in they gave you a large paper bag and you got 50% off whatever you could fit in it. i knew this would be a good time to stock up on some spring and summer clothes for Harper. i was pretty happy with what i was able to find (thrifting is always hit or miss, but i got pretty lucky here). i found 3 dresses (old navy, h&m and a brand i’d never heard of), a funny tank (gap), high-waisted jeans (!!!)(old navy), a jean jacket (gap also) and the cutest pink sweatshirt (old navy) with toggle buttons to finish out the winter. total damage for her clothes was eleven dollars. SCORE. a good washing when i got home and they are ready to roll (you know, when the sun decides to show up).
since i was alone this day, i perused the books and found a few. books at my stores are usually $2.00 for softback and $4.00 for hardback but i had my trusty 50% off bag. found a few to add to my bookshelf.
along with that brass mister bunny up there who cost me $2, i’d say i had a pretty good day – under 20 bucks after tax for a bunch of clothes for the chitlin, a few books in great condition and a bunny that has no purpose besides being awesome.
can’t wait to see what you guys have been up to. link up your thrifting posts below (remember to link the post, not just your URL. and the post must have to do with thrifting/yard sales/garage sales/things of the like)!

first of all, a big thanks to everyone who linked up with the first high on thrifting thursday 2 weeks ago! i loved checking out all the awesome things people have found. i’m stoked to keep this going every 2 weeks until people lose interest. i of course, will keep thrifting, because i have a problem.
last weekend my local goodwills had a 2 day sale on books – they were all 50% off. this coincided really well with my renewed love of books, and i snatched up some hardbacks for $2 each and softcovers for $1 for myself and a couple books for H at .49 cents. admittedly, i went both days of the sale. on friday when H was at preschool i got a giant coffee and slowly made my way through them at the one in our town. the next day i stopped at another one with Chelsey who was visiting and grabbed even more books.
i mentioned the other day that i had read A Million Little Pieces and loved it. a few people said i needed to get My Friend Leonard to read as well. i figured when i had some extra cash i’d buy it on amazon or whatever. but there it was at goodwill, on book sale day, for two dollars. i did a jig right there in the aisle. ask Chelsey, she saw me do it. JIG OF JOY.
the books i’ve read so far that i’ve picked up thrifting have been really good. which is surprising because i’m literally just grabbing random books that sound decent after reading the jacket. This is Where I Leave You was really good, Like Normal People, and of course A Million Little Pieces. all great books. I’m working on Good Grief right now and so far i am enjoying that, too. < —- not affiliate links.
i also found this pretty framed drawing. it’s super old and really frail so i had to reinforce the back but now it’s hanging in the guest bathroom. the colors are so pretty and wouldn’t it make a pretty tattoo? 6 bucks. again, with the jigs.
i can’t wait to see all of your finds. link up your thrifting posts below! and grab a button for your post if you’d like.
